Ten Things Only Nurses Understand

tn things only nurses understand

Nursing is a language of its own. With its superstitions and nursing terminology, there are just some things that only nurses understand.  Although I’m sure other professions have their things that are unique to them.  Here are some of the things that only nurses get:

1.  The amazing feeling you get when you find a box of gloves in your size.  You may even be guilty of hiding them, so you’ll have them when you need them again.

2. The tremendous feeling you get when you are able to get an I.V on a patient, when no one else can.

3. Not saying the word quiet ever and the feeling of wanting to smack anyone who utters the word, especially in the E.R.

4. The feeling of anxiety you get when you can’t find your tape, your scissors or your pen.

5. The way you talk about the most disgusting things during lunch with your coworkers and the weird reception you get when you try this stunt with your non-nurse friends.

6. The common hate nurses have for the call bell. Most of us would like to meet the inventor of the call light in a dark alley.

7.  The frustrations nurses have with doctor’s handwriting! Is this even English???

8. The hatred we have for those nasty little phones many of us have to carry around.

9. The annoying patient that won’t stop talking when you’re trying to listen to breath sounds.

10.  The annoying patient or family member that tells you how to do your job, when they just Googled it the night before.

What other things can you think of that only nurses understand?
